SAIC is seeking a Systems Administrator to work aboard a US Navy vessel for a minimum of one year. If you enjoy traveling and experiencing other cultures, this is the job for you

The qualified candidate will live onboard the ship and provide full-time FSET support for the onboard IT and communications systems. The Systems Administrator will work directly with Navy crew members to maintain, patch, back up, and troubleshoot computers, phones, peripherals, servers, and networks.

Team members located at these sites shall support not only those specific geographical locations, but also all deployment sites within the RCC's Area of Responsibility (AOR) and other RCC as needed. This particular position is 100% aboard an expeditionary Navy vessel, both in-port and at sea.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Installation of new hardware or software
  • Creating and managing user accounts
  • Maintaining computer systems such as servers and databases
  • Planning and properly responding to system outages and various other problems
  • May include light programming or scripting to make the system workflows easier training computer users and assistants.

Requirement for Operation and Maintenance support is typically 5 days a week for each C4I FoS fielded system. Work hours in excess of 40 hours per week per person may be required during contingency operations (deployments or exercises), an alternate work schedule may be required to support 24/7 operations. Typical core hours are 0800 to 1700.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelors and 2 years experience. (additional years of experience accepted in lieu of degree)

Required Skills:

  • Experience working in a Linux environment
  • Experience in a Systems Administrator role
  • Experience working in a virtualized environment
  • Ability to perform basic network troubleshooting
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Security+ certification

Required Clearance:

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. A minimum of an Interim Secret clearance will be required prior to first day of employment.

Required Travel:

Travel required 100% of the time.

SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
