Responsibilities:- The Master has overriding authority to take required action considered necessary for the safety and security of the crew, the vessel, or for the protection of the environment.
- Periodically review the safety management system and report deficiencies to shore-based management.
- Ensure statutory certification is maintained valid.
- Motivate the vessel crew to comply with the safety management system, referencing the 'Forms list' for guidance.
- Act as tug manager, coordinating crew attendance, provision of stores, and operational readiness.
- Comply with SVITZER health, safety, environment, and security management systems and procedures, including cyber security.
- Be familiar with relevant OH&S, environmental, and security regulations and report as appropriate.
- Manage tug crew discipline and escalate issues as needed.
- Supervise and assist with tug maintenance as necessary.
- Prepare operational reports when required.
- Participate in safety training and train other crew members.
- Induct visitors and authorized personnel onboard.
- Engage in operational improvement exercises and liaise with management for continuous improvement.
- Ensure availability of resources for onboard activities.
- Comply with applicable legislation.
- If necessary, discharge crew posing risks or non-compliance issues, with prior notification to Shore Management and ensuring proper replacement according to the Safe Manning Certificate.
- Follow company safety management system regulations.
- II/3 - Master less than 500GT – NCV
- Basic Safety Training (STCW A-VI/1)
- Proficiency in Medical Care On Board Ship (STCW Code A-VI/4-2)
- Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat (STCW A-VI/2)
- Advanced Fire Fighting (STCW A-VI/3)
- Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (A-VI/6)
- Valid Seafarer Medical
