Main Objectives
Lead and manage the day-to-day airside operations at Bahrain Airport Services, ensuring the highest service standards for customer airlines and stakeholders. Oversee senior staff within ramp operations, ensuring compliance with service level agreements and Bahrain Airport Services procedures. Responsible for operational decisions, safety compliance, staff training, and coordination to deliver efficient and safe customer experiences while meeting financial and operational goals. Provide guidance and support to staff to ensure all tasks are completed effectively and in line with company policies. This role also supports other operational management functions as required.
Main Duties
- Ensure all activities are in compliance with Bahrain Airport Services, customer airlines, and regulatory procedures, ensuring that safety and operational standards are met by coordinating with all involved departments, including ground operations, customer airlines, and regulatory bodies. This ensures that operations align with industry standards and regulations, minimizing risks and ensuring safety compliance in airside activities.
- Supervise the activities of assigned personnel in ramp areas and traffic support functions to ensure maximum operational efficiency, meeting airline standards and regulatory requirements, and ensure all equipment is up-to-date and meets international standards. This responsibility ensures that team members perform their tasks efficiently and according to required safety and operational standards, promoting high-quality service delivery.
- Prepare and maintain annual capital and manpower budgets for the department, regularly providing reports on traffic performance, aircraft movement, staff utilization, and equipment usage. Ensure costs are within the approved budget and provide justifications for any variances. This ensures financial control and resource allocation, allowing for effective planning and the avoidance of overspending.
- Implement and adhere to risk management systems, ensure safety rules and regulations are followed by ramp personnel, and ensure that airside safety is maintained, with operations in line with company procedures, customer airline procedures, and regulatory standards. This minimizes the potential for accidents and ensures a safe working environment for staff, passengers, and equipment.
- Plan, coordinate, and provide regular training to ensure all ground operations staff are aware of their duties and responsibilities. Provide bi-annual training plans and ensure all services are recorded accurately for recharge purposes. Continuous training equips staff with the knowledge and skills required to meet operational demands and service standards, improving overall efficiency and safety.
- Develop and maintain commercial relationships with airlines, Airport Authorities, and other internal/external bodies to ensure service delivery during normal and emergency operations. Report to department head and other relevant stakeholders regarding accident/incident investigations, corrective actions, and operational updates. This ensures smooth communication, fosters collaboration, and enables the company to meet the needs of customers and regulatory bodies effectively.
- Monitor performance standards, take corrective action where necessary, and provide necessary feedback. Ensure any discrepancies or incidents are investigated thoroughly, and future planning is implemented to avoid reoccurrence. Manage the departmental Performance Management System (PMS) with quarterly reviews. This ensures that issues are addressed promptly, operational standards are maintained, and preventive measures are taken to avoid incidents in the future.
- Manage daily airside activities, ensuring all operations run smoothly and safely. Ensure compliance with procedures and standards. Deputize for the senior as needed, maintain employee welfare, manage disciplinary matters, and ensure that all manual/procedures/work instructions are up-to-date and communicated effectively. This ensures that daily operations remain uninterrupted, maintain staff morale, and uphold high safety and service standards in airside activities.
- Comply with Company's and airport authorities' health, safety & security requirements.
- Carries out other similar or related duties as directed by the management.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
- Should hold a college degree (preferably with any course related to aviation).
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in Airside Operations and/or a minimum of 5 years in any aviation related job experience preferably in ground handling services in a major airline.
- Experienced in management.
Other Essential Requirements:
- Must complete Aviation Operations related courses.
- Comprehensive knowledge in Operations and high operational standards/Customer Services standards.
- Good Knowledge of written and spoken English.
- Communication Skills.
- Computer Literacy.
- Driving license is required (Required to drive within the Airport/Airport license is required).
