This world-class facility, located in Al Jasra, will provide long-term care and post-acute rehabilitation services. Amana Healthcare provides long-term care for adult patients with complex medical needs, including mechanical ventilation, in an inpatient setting. It also offers specialized rehabilitation following life-altering events, such as stroke, brain injury, spine injury, joint replacement, or amputation. Multidisciplinary care will be provided by our intensive care unit (ICU) physicians, geriatricians, PMR, nurses, therapists, and a patient & family experience team, working collaboratively to promote optimal outcomes and enhance quality of life. Job Overview This is a full-time, on-site role for experienced and highly-motivated ICU physicians. Reporting to the Medical Director and Director, Clinical Operations, Specialists will be responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based care; and effectively and efficiently diagnosing, managing and treating all patients, within their scope of granted clinical privileges. Applicants are expected to:be highly experienced in all aspects of patient caredemonstrate compassionate, ethical and contemporary clinical practice at all timeshave exemplary interpersonal skills, and expertise in integrated multidisciplinary patient care. Responsibilities – Specialist ICU (Critical Care)Deliver all aspects of high-quality, continuous critical care for medically complex patients requiring long-term support, including ventilator dependency, tracheostomy management, and chronic multisystem conditions. Manage all medical aspects of patient care, including preventative interventions, management of acute decompensation and chronic diseases, weaning, nutrition, infection control, and medication management. Request and interpret basic and advanced diagnostics. Provide comprehensive medical oversight for patients transitioning from acute care ICUs to long-term rehabilitation, ensuring stability, prevention of complications, and gradual functional improvement. Lead multidisciplinary team rounds, collaborating closely with physiatrists, geriatricians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and allied health professionals to create, target and monitor individualized care plans. Regularly assess and adjust treatment goals in coordination with therapy teams to support functional recovery while maintaining medical stability. Communicate clear updates, education, and guidance to patients and their families throughout the rehabilitation process, including goals of care and advanced directives where appropriate. Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation, including progress notes, care plans, medical reports and discharge summaries in accordance with organizational standards. Participate in the facility's on-call rotation, providing continuous medical coverage. This will include nights, weekends, and public holidays. Actively contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and the development of protocols specific to long-term ICU-level care in a rehabilitative context. Support staff training and ongoing professional development related to the care of chronically critically ill patients, weaning protocols, and safe rehabilitation in a medically fragile population. Maintain contemporary clinical knowledge and practice and identify their own development needs. Qualifications MBBS or MBCh B or equivalent Completion of specialty qualification as per the National Health Regulatory Authority Bahrain. Minimum 2 years of ICU experience post training. Must hold a valid License/Registration to practice in their home country and/or country of last employment (Where applicable).
