Electrical and Electronic Engineering Lab Assistant Position Summary

The Electrical and Electronic Engineering Lab Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of laboratory experiments and technical sessions within the program. Key responsibilities include preparing, maintaining, and organizing lab equipment and materials to guarantee safety protocols are strictly followed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare Lab Components: Set up, assemble, and calibrate lab components, kits, and setups for experiments under instructor supervision.
  • Assist Instructors: Provide technical support during practical sessions to ensure seamless execution and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Student Support: Offer assistance to students during lab sessions, promoting hands-on learning experiences and fostering effective communication with faculty members.
  • Maintain Laboratory Equipment: Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate laboratory equipment and tools to maintain their optimal functionality.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of lab inventory, requesting replenishments as necessary to prevent shortages.
  • Documentation: Prepare experiment sheets, manuals, and logs under instructor supervision, documenting equipment usage, maintenance, and disposal procedures.
Education and Experience:

A bachelor's degree (BSc) in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering is required. Minimum two years of industrial experience in a technical or engineering environment are preferred, with prior academic lab setting experience highly valued.

Essential Skills:
  • Familiarity with Electrical/Electronic Instruments: Proficiency in handling electrical/electronic instruments and tools.
  • Circuit Simulation Software: Familiarity with circuit simulation software, such as Multisim or MATLAB/Simulink, is advantageous.
  • Organizational and Troubleshooting Skills: Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills are essential for this role.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication with students and faculty members is vital.
  • Microcontrollers and IoT Systems: Knowledge of Arduino and ESP32 microcontrollers, basic understanding of IoT systems, and proficiency in C++ programming for embedded systems are desirable.
  • Analog and Digital Electronics: Basic knowledge of analog and digital electronics, including the ability to control DC and AC motors.
Work Environment:

This role involves working in a laboratory and workshop setting with frequent interaction with students and staff. Lifting and handling electrical equipment and tools may be required.
