Sourcing & Sqa Engineer

Our Client, a multinational Company, is assessing one of its suppliers in Bahrain.
We are looking to strengthen its operational excellence with the support of a "boots on the ground" **Sourcing & SQA Engineer**, capable of securing production and preserving the integrity of his products.
We are offering a 6-month contract, renewable for periods of 3 months.
**Job Objective**:
The individual role will be to act as the technical interface between suppliers and manufacturing engineers to determine new and alternate sources.
Will facilitate early supplier involvement and co-development in new product introduction,
proactively seek new technologies and participate to qualify and develop suppliers in accordance with the global sourcing strategy. In addition, will play a central role in assessing supplier quality and ensuring that products received are free of defects.
Will work to address and resolve quality issues by providing technical input and guidance on process enhancements and improvements with supply base.
**Key responsibilities and duties**:
a) Perform supplier evaluations, development, qualification, and selection to meet commodity, operations, and supply strategies that provides competitive advantage in quality, value/cost, delivery, and technology with particular focus on fiberglass composite raw material and assembly components.
b) Work with R&D & PDO on New Product Development (NPD) to ensure the integrity and clarity of engineering requirements and that all expectations are communicated effectively to supporting suppliers.
c) Use project management skills and tools to investigate alternate component technologies for reduced cost or improved quality and reliability and implement changes.
d) Identify and communicate sourcing risks throughout the product cycle to mitigate supply risk. Manage and coordinate all sourcing project deliverables in support of supply improvements.
e) Facilitate and lead Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VA/VE) processes.
f) Carry out supplier validation audits.
g) Lead the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental risks Support new product launches to ensure that supplier quality meets the required standards
h) Perform onsite or online supplier audits for root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions of supplier quality issues, assist with first off sample approvals, lead quality audits.
i) Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis, and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
j) Facilitate the escalation of unresolved supplier quality issues within assigned projects and suppliers
k) Support the Quality Manager to monitor and report on supplier product, quality and performance and lead process improvements.
**KSA** (knowledge, Skills, Abilities) required for the job
a) Knowledge of Fiber glass raw materials, Mechanical ,Chemical, Polymer, Manufacturing, Electrical or Electronic Engineering
b) Understanding of the product development cycle
c) Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner
d) Highly organized self-starter with ability to perform in fast-paced environment
e) Strong analytical skills with ability to solve complex problems and use good judgment
f) Technical detail-oriented
g) Exceptional math and analytical skills to adequately analyze sales trending information, forecasts, set inventory targets, interpret supplier quotes, contracts, and other supplier-related issues.
h) Knowledge of ISO and other recognized international quality system standards
i) Excellent oral and written communication and group presentation skills
j) Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Catia and Outlook
**Education & Experience**:
a) Bachelor’s degree with at least five 3+ years in purchasing/ sourcing / supplier quality assurance role
b) Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronic, Polymer
Engineering
c) Experience in manufacturing / production environments / engineer to order work environments.
d) Experience in vendor identification/ selection/ qualification and development
e) Gulf working experience will be an added advantage.
