**Position**:
A Resident Engineer with Marine design and construction supervision experience is required to be based in Bahrain for a minimum of 8 months, with the option to extend. The Engineer shall act as a Client Representative on site during the construction phase and form part of the Clients team. The marine related construction work includes the upgrade and extension of an existing jetty.
The role requires the following:

- Proven ability to successfully deliver port and coastal construction projects;
- Reviewing designs, drawings, construction methodologies, test results, risk assessments and any other documents on behalf of the Client in accordance to local and international (BS and EU) standards and practices;
- Shall have an excellent understanding of BS/EU codes, marine related guidelines and standards (BS6349, PIANC, CIRIA etc.);
- Supervising the Contractors works by performing daily inspections, ensuring that the works are progressing in accordance with the approved design drawings and design standards;
- Review and ensuring the proposed methods of construction, materials, etc. are in accordance with good engineering practice and do not endanger the safety of the Client’s staff and equipment or that of its customers or neighbours;
- Review and ensure the Contractor’s designs/specifications, calculations, construction drawings, and construction methodologies fully satisfy the Employer’s Requirements;
- Review and advise on the designs, calculations, materials and any other requisites with respect to alternative designs, materials, as proposed by the Contractor requiring an amendment to any designs, materials or any others;
- Supervise site activities to ensure that the required construction standards and specifications are met;
- Record the progress of the works against the current programme and record any variances and inform the Client of such variances;
- Prepare clear and concise reports;
- Communicate effectively with all relevant parties including the Employer, Client, Contractor and other stakeholders, as necessary;
- Manage procedures and systems for accurate record keeping and claim management;
- Monitor the chosen construction methodologies applied on site for compliance with relevant Client and local health and safety legislation;
- Liaise with the Client H&S coordinators;
- Record the progress of the works against the programme to assist the Client in assessing accurately the valuation of the works completed;
- Liaise directly with the client and the contractors to mitigate the implications of any site queries/ site problems that may arise;
- Direct Experience of working on marine construction sites including engagement with multiple stakeholders;
- Detailed experience of fulfilling duties required by the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations;
- Expected daily activity split includes; 40% design review, 30% construction supervision and 30% Client / Contractor engagement.

- Min 8-15 years’ experience having worked in both a consultancy and site supervisory role;
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering, Coastal Processes, Marine Structural Engineering or similar (Masters degree preferable);
- Chartered level in ICE, CIWEM or equivalent;
- Shall hold a valid driver’s license.
