We are seeking a skilled and experienced HAZMAT Specialist to join our team in Bahrain. This position will involve supporting hazardous material (HAZMAT) management for ships homeported, deployed, or forward deployed in Bahrain. The HAZMAT Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of HAZMAT procurement, tracking, storage, disposal, and logistics support. This role involves working closely with local and international suppliers, Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Bahrain, and various agencies to ensure effective HAZMAT management and compliance with Navy specifications.

**Essential Responsibilities**:

- ** HAZMAT Procurement & Logistics**: Initiate, process, receive, move, store, dispose, and track hazardous material in support of maintenance for ships in Bahrain. Coordinate the procurement of HAZMAT from local, international, and Navy stock systems.
- ** Program Assessment & Improvement**: Review and assess the effectiveness of the HAZMAT program, recommending improvements, process refinements, and strategies for more efficient and cost-effective operations.
- ** HAZMAT Inventory Management**: Maintain HAZMAT inventory, track orders, materials in-route, on-hand stock, and usage. Identify material requirements and maintain records of expenditures against allocated funds.
- ** Coordination with Agencies**: Resolve logistics and HAZMAT issues with Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Bahrain, other agencies, and private industry suppliers as necessary.
- ** Safety & Compliance**: Ensure compliance with safety regulations by maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and establishing HAZMAT lockers in accordance with Naval Support Activity (NSA) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Bahrain instructions.
- ** Data Analysis & Reporting**: Provide statistical analysis and recommendations for improvement based on HAZMAT tracking metrics and program performance.
- ** Collaboration with Code 500 Team**: Work closely with Code 500 team to add materials to the Command Authorized Users List (AUL), manage HAZMAT procurement, and maintain documentation for ordering material.
- ** HAZMAT Spill Management**: Possess the knowledge to contain HAZMAT spills and understand procedures for handling spill situations.
- ** Primary Point of Contact**: Serve as the primary point of contact for all HAZMAT-related inquiries and issues, ensuring communication with ship maintenance stakeholders.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- In-depth knowledge and practical experience with hazardous material management, procurement, and logistics.
- Experience with Navy supply and HAZMAT systems such as NAVSUP One Touch, AIM, MAT, MRQT, etc.
- Proficiency in composing technical reports and briefs to communicate HAZMAT-related information.
- Ability to analyze sourcing data and vendor technical information to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Ability to certify and process HAZMAT for shipment and movement.
- Knowledge of hazardous material spill containment and emergency response procedures.
- Forklift certification (or the ability to obtain within a specified time).
- Knowledge of the Government Purchase Card (GPC) program and willingness to serve as an alternate GPC holder for HAZMAT purchases.
- Must have an active secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.

**Preferred Qualifications (not required)**:

- Familiarity with HAZMAT program administration and logistics, particularly within a military or government environment.
- Experience working with civilian suppliers in locating and ordering materials outside of Navy stock systems.
- In-depth understanding of Navy HAZMAT and safety regulations.
- Expertise in analyzing and improving material procurement strategies and identifying new methods for efficient HAZMAT management.
