1. Title: Lab/Studio Assistant

2. Reporting: Lab/Studio Assistant shall report to Head of Department.

3. Responsibilities:
3.1 Lab/Studio Assistant shall:
a) plan and manage the day to day operation of lab/studio.

b) assist senior lab/studio staff (i.e relevant faculty members) during lab experiments and/or studio work and demonstrations.

c) Prepare instructions and materials used for lab experiments and/or studio work.

e) keep detailed records of all machines, equipment, tools, software, materials and consumables within the lab/studio.

f) organize and maintain lab/studio storage, material samples and specimens.

g) advise students on health and safety issues within the lab/studio area.

h) ensure that health and safety procedures are adhered by all students and staff members within the lab/studio.

i) provide support to students for using software, tools and equipment available at the lab/studio.

j) assist students while working at the lab/studio to ensure that work is carried out in a safe manner and environment.

k) maintain accident record. l) plan and supervise maintenance of all equipment within the lab/studio.

m) ensure cleaning and manage minor adjustments and repairs of machines and equipment to ensure smooth operation within the lab/studio.

n) plan expected future demand within lab/studio area.

o) review own training needs regularly to maintain professional expertise.

p) carry-out Ad hoc duties requested by Head of Department and/or Dean.

4. Requirements: In principle, Lab/Studio Assistant shall be with good professional experience in lab/studio environment. Gulf University recognizes the following qualifications for the Lab/Studio Assistant:
a) hold Bachelor degree in engineering and/or interior design disciplines (for Engineering labs/studios) and/or IT (for computer labs) recognized by the Ministry of Education in Kingdom of Bahrain,.

Job Description 2 b) minimum 1 year work in labs and/or studios at post-secondary educational institutions or industry.

c) good knowledge and experience in software relevant to labs and/or studio.

d) good administrative, guiding, problem-solving and systematic decisionmaking skills.

e) good interpersonal and communication skills.

f) ability to create and maintain effective work relationships with staff and students. g) ability to deal effectively with stress and to adapt to new and changing circumstances. Furthermore, it is desirable that Lab/Studio Assistant:
h) has knowledge and interest in the art and creative industries.

i) is knowledgeable in the use of computer aided manufacturing equipment with range of materials such as metals, plastics and wood.

j) is able to carry-out any other reasonable task or duty within technical competency, as necessary.

**Salary**: BD450.000 - BD500.000 per month
