An IT generalist is a person who maintains and optimizes the functionality of a company's computer network. Essentially, these individuals are responsible for providing assistance to employees and controlling data within a network. This role primarily includes training employees on computer programs, assisting employees when problems are encountered, monitoring security, providing disaster recovery, and participating in meetings.
- **Integration and Deployment**: The IT specialist will collaborate with the third-party POS vendor to ensure a smooth integration of their system into the restaurant's overall IT infrastructure. This involves coordinating the deployment of the POS hardware and software, configuring the system to meet specific restaurant requirements, and testing its functionality.
- **Vendor Relationship Management**: The IT specialist will establish and maintain a strong working relationship with the POS vendor. They will serve as the main point of contact for technical support, maintenance, and issue resolution. They will ensure that the vendor meets service level agreements and promptly addresses any problems or concerns.
- **System Monitoring and Performance**: The IT specialist will continuously monitor the POS system's performance to identify potential issues or bottlenecks. They will track system uptime, response times, and transaction processing to ensure optimal performance. In case of any performance degradation, the IT specialist will work with the vendor to troubleshoot and resolve the issues.
- **User Support and Training**: The IT specialist will provide ongoing user support and training to restaurant staff who interact with the POS system. They will help resolve any technical issues that arise during day-to-day operations and offer guidance on using the system effectively. This includes troubleshooting hardware problems, assisting with software updates, and training new employees on POS functionality.
- **Data Management and Security**: While the third-party POS vendor may handle data management and security to some extent, the IT specialist will still have a role in overseeing and ensuring the restaurant's data is properly protected. They will work closely with the vendor to implement adequate security measures, perform regular data backups, and address any compliance requirements.
- **Technology Evaluation and Enhancement**: The IT specialist will continuously evaluate the restaurant's technology needs and explore opportunities for enhancing efficiencies or customer experience. They will assess other technology solutions that can complement or integrate with the POS system, such as inventory management systems, customer relationship management tools, or online ordering platforms.
- **IT Project Management**: In addition to managing the POS system, the IT specialist may also oversee other IT projects within the restaurant company. This can include implementing new technologies, upgrading hardware or software, or optimizing network infrastructure. They will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the desired outcomes. By taking on these responsibilities, the IT specialist ensures that the POS system operates seamlessly, addresses technical issues promptly, and aligns with the restaurant's overall IT strategy and objectives, even with a third-party vendor in place.

**Salary**: Up to BD800.000 per month
