**Summary**:
Under direct supervision, Provides technical support and assistance in the performance of routine library duties, such as circulation, bibliographic services or technical services, circulation, bindery operations, bibliographic services, technical services, or cataloging.
**Duties**:
- Provides guidance and assistance to patrons regarding general and specific information about the library and library resources.
- Responds to individual requests for information from library clients; refers clients to appropriate information source, and/or answers routine operational and procedural questions.
- With mínimal supervision, performs and/or oversees routine tasks, utilizing automated database systems, to include materials check-in, circulation, searching, ordering of materials, and/or copy cataloging.
- Process and/or maintain library documents and materials.
- Resolves routine operational problems and provides first-level troubleshooting of relevant library systems.
- Assists higher level staff and librarians with basic reference services; staffs public service desks, providing customer service and assistance.
- Maintains inventories of equipment and supplies for the unit; assists the unit in the processing of administrative and financial transactions.
- Covers for the circulation desk on an as-needs basis.
- Carries out and communicates policies pertaining to unit services, operations, and activities.
- Assists with collection maintenance activities and projects as appropriate.
- May lead, guide, and train student employees, set work schedules, and ensure compliance with established procedures for a specific activity within a library unit.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**:
- Diploma with 2+ years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED**:
- Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
- Knowledge of procedures and standards for the processing and/or maintenance of library materials.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Skill in the use of relevant automated database systems.
- Skill in the use of library resources.
- Knowledge of library principles, practices, and terminology.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to provide training to staff and/or student employees.
- Knowledge of library principles, practices, and terminology.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Manama: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
