Control Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Control Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, maintaining segregation of duties, and collaborating with various departments to resolve complex reconciliation issues.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of general ledger accounts, risk management, and regulatory requirements. They will be able to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements in proofing procedures, as well as prepare and submit reconciliation certification reports for management approval.

In this role, you will work closely with the financial reporting team to resolve reconciling items before financial statement finalization. You will also conduct risk assessments of GL accounts, categorizing by risk/materiality, and apply appropriate reconciliation levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Transactions: Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled, with correct balances.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor and assure the quality of GL account reconciliation and proofing data submitted by all business units.
  • Risk Management: Identify discrepancies and unreconciled transactions or balances, working with relevant departments to correct them promptly.
  • Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements in GL proofing procedures.
  • Reporting: Prepare a dashboard displaying ageing analysis of unreconciled and open items monthly for management review.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with banking regulations and financial reporting standards.
  • Balances: Provide balance confirmations to authorized requestors as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related field, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of practical experience in a banking or similar function.
