Job Overview
VAM Systems, a leading IT consulting company, seeks an experienced Data Engineer - SAS to join our team in Bahrain. This key role involves designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data systems using advanced tools and technologies.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for consolidating and analyzing financial data, including budgets, income statements, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements. They will also be responsible for building stored procedures and ETL jobs to reconcile transactions by comparing and correcting data.

Key Skills and Qualifications
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should have:
  • a strong background in computer science and engineering
  • expertise in SQL development, SAS EG, SAS DI, object-oriented programming (e.g., C#, Java)
  • 3+ years of experience with SAS Management Console, SAS DI, SAS Enterprise Guide, and other related tools
  • experience in managing and further developing distributed systems and clusters for batch and streaming data (Hadoop/Spark, Kafka/Flink)
  • knowledge of semi-structured data sets (JSON, XML) and experience in handling them
  • experience in C# or Java (3+ years)
  • sound understanding of financial reporting (balance sheet, profit and loss) and risk reporting

Desirable Skills and Qualifications
The following skills are highly desirable:
  • advanced SQL query writing, stored procedures, and functions
  • ETL tools (SAS platform, Microsoft SQL Server)
  • data warehouse design and components, relational database management systems, and database design solutions
  • T-SQL procedures/functions for batch processing and reports
