Job Description

Canonical is seeking a Linux Cryptography and Security Engineer to join their team. This individual will play a key role in building and maintaining the security foundation that enables Ubuntu and its users to operate securely and remain compliant with international information security standards.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with low-level Linux cryptography APIs and debugging, as well as excellent software engineering fundamentals, including prior experience with C development.

The successful applicant will also have hands-on experience with Linux system administration and shell scripting, demonstrated knowledge of security and cryptography fundamentals, and direct experience writing secure code and implementing best practices.

Additionally, the candidate should have significant development experience working with open source libraries and excellent verbal and written communications skills to enable efficient collaboration with internal and external partners in a remote-first environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with low-level Linux cryptography APIs and debugging
  • Excellent software engineering fundamentals, including prior experience with C development
  • Hands-on experience with Linux system administration and shell scripting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security and cryptography fundamentals
