Principal Backend Developer

Job Opportunity: Software Engineering Leadership

We are seeking an experienced and passionate software engineer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of our backend systems. As a senior member of our engineering team, you will write clean, production-ready code, help shape the architecture, and mentor junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge-sharing.

• Develop scalable, secure, and well-tested backend systems using serverless architectures, microservices, and event-driven designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to release new features, enhance performance, and maintain the codebase.
• Mentor junior engineers, sharing best practices and fostering growth within the team.
• Proactively identify opportunities to simplify code and improve technical design and workflows.
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring seamless project tracking and execution.

• 5+ years of backend experience, including 4+ years working with TypeScript in production environments.
• Strong experience building serverless systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures at scale.
• Detailed knowledge of AWS services such as Lambda, Cognito, S3, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, and CloudFormation.
• Solid understanding of NoSQL (especially DynamoDB) and working experience with SQL databases.
• Expertise in TDD, clean architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and modern testing practices.
• Familiarity with REST and GraphQL APIs, performance monitoring, and secure coding standards.
• Ability to make architectural decisions, lead by example, and navigate ambiguity in cross-functional teams.

• Startup or fast-paced team experience.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across disciplines and contribute to a healthy, high-performing team culture.
