We are looking for an exceptional Lead Open Source Engineer to join our Server Team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for maintaining and packaging a wide variety of software, including webservers, databases, and virtualization and containerization stacks.
The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for open source software and a solid understanding of Linux systems. They will also have experience in evaluating contributions from other engineers to maintain high-quality software standards.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented team of engineers and contribute to the development of Ubuntu, one of the most popular open source operating systems.
Responsibilities- Maintain and package a wide variety of software, including webservers, databases, and virtualization and containerization stacks.
- Evaluate contributions from other engineers to maintain high-quality software standards.
- Collaborate with other teams in the Ubuntu and Debian communities, with upstream projects, and commercially supported customers.
- Owning the maintenance of Ubuntu Server packages.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
- Strong passion for open source software.
- Solid understanding of Linux systems.
- Experience in evaluating contributions from other engineers to maintain high-quality software standards.
- Candidate should be comfortable contributing and debugging many languages such as C/C++, Python, Rust, Go, Ruby, PHP.
- Experience in packaging in one or more ecosystems.
- Experience using and creating containers and virtual machines.
- Distributed work environment with twice-yearly team sprints in person.
