At Valiant Integrated Services, we are committed to excellence in linguistic services, and we are seeking a skilled Somali Interpreter to join our team. As a key member of our linguistics department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality interpretation and translation services in support of our ongoing and new U.S operations and mission requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct accurate and consecutive translation, transcription, and interpretation in Somali into English, ensuring that all materials are translated with precision and accuracy.
  • Provide interpretation services during meetings, interviews, and conferences, facilitating effective communication between parties.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Somali culture and linguistic nuances, enabling you to accurately interpret complex concepts and ideas.
  • Collaborate with our project management team to ensure timely completion of interpretation projects, meeting tight deadlines and deliverables.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the management team.

Requirements:

  • A minimum proficiency in Somali and English speaking and writing (Level 3/3 of Interagency Language Roundtable - ILR) with native proficiency preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of Somali culture and previous work experience in the region, with native familiarity preferred.
  • Experience interpreting and translating Somali into English, with a strong understanding of linguistic and cultural nuances.
  • The ability to understand the essentials of all speech in standard dialect and vocabulary, rarely requiring paraphrasing or explanation.
  • Familiarity with local culture and customs, with the ability to operate within the local populace.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • A valid SECRET clearance is necessary for this position.
