Science Coordinator Role

The Science Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring teaching consistency and excellence across various subjects. Key responsibilities include training teachers, analyzing results, and identifying areas for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage teacher substitutions to ensure classes are taught according to lesson plans.
  • Analyze student performance through SABIS AMS results, identify weaknesses, and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Conduct daily class observations to ensure proper application of the SABIS Point System and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Meet with relevant staff to discuss students' progress, develop action plans, and improve academic results.
  • Follow up on teachers' complaints with the AQC(s) and/or School Director.
  • Assign marking, manage teachers' timetables, and ensure an equal distribution of workload.
  • Maintain availability of teaching materials for teachers' use.
  • Discuss teachers' performance with the AQC(s), develop improvement plans, and ensure implementation.
  • Conduct performance appraisals of teachers, develop improvement plans, and follow up on their implementation.
  • Submit weekly reports on teachers' performance to the School Director and AQC(s).
  • Review and suggest classroom assignments at the beginning of the year to ensure suitable teachers for each section.
  • Conduct training workshops for teachers to improve their subject knowledge and teaching methods.
  • Ensure consistency and completion of marking through quality control and submitting exam results to the IT Department.
  • Provide feedback to the Regional Center on pacing charts, exams, curriculum, etc.
  • Organize and manage academic support sessions for struggling students in coordination with the AQC(s) and SLC.
  • Ensure all teachers follow pacing charts in a timely manner and develop action plans for those falling behind.
  • Maintain classrooms' displays and corridors' cleanliness.
  • Distribute study materials to teachers and schedule reading exams for students (when applicable to a specific grade).
  • Plan periodic exams in conjunction with the AQC(s) and Regional Center to ensure correct timing and frequency (when applicable to a specific grade).
Ideal Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or any related field.
  • A Master's degree is a plus.
  • English Proficiency / Native English Speaker (depending on subject).
  • A teaching certificate is a plus.
  • At least 3 years of experience in education (not necessary).
  • Professional behavior and ethical conduct.
  • Delivering results.
  • Continuous learning and improvement.
  • Accountability and taking ownership.
