Hindi/Urdu Linguist - Language Expert
We are seeking skilled linguists to provide high-quality interpretation, transcription, and translation services in support of ongoing and new operations and mission requirements.

As a Hindi/Urdu Linguist, you will play a crucial role in facilitating effective communication between English-speaking and Hindi/Urdu-speaking individuals. Your expertise will enable us to provide accurate and timely language support, ensuring the success of our operations.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct accurate and consecutive translation, transcription, and interpretation of Hindi and Urdu into English.
  • Translate various syntax and expressions, including colloquial and slang phrases from English, Hindi, Urdu, and vice versa.
  • Work and travel in austere environments, requiring adaptability and flexibility.
  • Provide advice on the cultural and ethnic significance of statements, conversations, situations, and documents.
  • Accurately scan, research, and analyze foreign language documents.

Requirements:
  • A proficiency in Hindi, Urdu, and English speaking and writing at Level 3/3 of Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR). Native proficiency is highly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of Hindi and Urdu culture, with previous work experience in the region being a significant advantage.
  • Experience interpreting and translating Hindi and Urdu into English, with a strong understanding of nuances and complexities.
  • Ability to understand the essentials of all speech in standard dialect and vocabulary, rarely requiring paraphrasing or explanation.
  • Familiarity with local culture and customs, enabling effective operation within the local populace.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Clearance Required: Secret.

Benefits and Additional Requirements:
  • The selected candidate must possess the necessary level of Personnel Security Clearance (PSC) as specified in the job descriptions or be eligible to qualify for same.
  • The selected candidate must undergo an extensive medical examination to be certified medically fit for duty in the work assignment location.
  • The selected candidate must undergo a dental examination to ensure there are no foreseen dental issues.
  • The selected candidate must be vaccinated according to the required immunizations for the Area of Operation of the work assignment location.
  • Must have sufficient unaided hearing to perform duties safely, hear emergency alarms unaided, and hear instructions in the absence of visual cues.
  • Must be able to work under stressful circumstances and meet short suspense dates.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be free of medical restrictions that prevent the performance of required duties or wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must be physically capable of performing work in extreme temperatures, low humidity, rain, and blowing sand and dust.
