Role Overview

As a
Senior Accountant
, you will be responsible for managing the company's core financial processes, ensuring compliance with Bahrain's legal and tax frameworks, and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records. You will work closely with Corporate Finance Director, auditors, and external stakeholders while supporting business decisions through accurate financial analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, Bahrain Commercial Companies Law, and company standards.
  • Supervise month-end and year-end closing processes, journal entries, and GL reconciliations.
  • Maintain an accurate fixed asset register, monitor depreciation, and asset capitalization.

VAT & Statutory Compliance

  • Prepare monthly VAT calculations and file returns in line with National Bureau for Revenue (NBR) requirements.
  • Conduct regular VAT reconciliations and audits.
  • Advise departments on VAT treatment of contracts, purchases, and exports.

Payroll & Employee Cost Management

  • Oversee monthly payroll processing and reconcile payroll with finance records.
  • Ensure compliance with Bahrain Labour Law, including EOSB, gratuity, leave, and indemnity provisions.
  • Liaise with HR for WPS, LMRA, SIO, and leave encashments.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist in preparing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Perform variance analysis and provide management with cost-saving insights.
  • Support CAPEX planning and ROI analysis for major investments.

Treasury & Banking

  • Manage bank accounts, daily cash flow, and multi-currency transactions.
  • Monitor banking facilities, LC issuance, BG, credit Facility, and payment schedules.
  • Prepare cash flow projections and bank reconciliations.

Internal Controls & Audit

  • Maintain internal controls and ensure alignment with EPIQ corporate audit policies.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors to support audit readiness.
  • Document financial processes and SOPs in accordance with best practices.

ERP & Digital Tools

  • Utilize and support the implementation of ERP systems (e.g., Total ETO, ZOHO, Sage 300).
  • Generate automated reports for real-time decision-making.
  • Recommend improvements in system workflow and reporting templates.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CA, or CMA is highly desirable and will be considered a strong advantage.

Skills

  • Deep knowledge of Bahrain VAT, labor law, and statutory filings.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and hands-on ERP usage (Total ETO, ZOHO, Sage 300).
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) in English; French & Arabic is an asset.
  • High attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving abilities.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in accounting roles.
  • GCC experience is a must, with at least +5 years in Bahrain.
  • Experience working in a multinational company or large industrial/manufacturing organization is highly preferred.
