Position Summary
The Physiotherapist will be responsible for assessing, planning, and providing evidence-based physiotherapy care to patients in a long-term care hospital setting. The role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team (MDT) including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and speech therapists to promote patient mobility, independence, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for patients with chronic conditions, neurological impairments, musculoskeletal disorders, and post-surgical needs.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and set measurable goals in collaboration with patients, families, and the MDT.
- Deliver therapeutic interventions such as manual therapy, exercise programs, mobility training, respiratory physiotherapy, and use of electrotherapy/rehabilitation equipment.
- Support patients with mobility aids (wheelchairs, walkers, prosthetics, orthotics) and train them in safe use.
- Provide rehabilitation for patients with long-term conditions (stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, degenerative diseases).
- Monitor, evaluate, and document patient progress, adjusting care plans as required.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on rehabilitation techniques, safe mobility, and long-term condition management.
- Participate in discharge planning and ensure continuity of care by liaising with community services where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records in line with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, health & safety, and quality standards of the hospital.
- Contribute to continuous professional development (CPD) and participate in in-service training, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support the development of physiotherapy protocols, policies, and rehabilitation pathways for the long-term care hospital.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution.
- Valid NHRA license as a Physiotherapist.
- Minimum
3–5 years' clinical experience
, preferably in long-term care, rehabilitation, or acute hospital settings. - Experience with neurological and geriatric patient populations highly desirable.
- Familiarity with modern physiotherapy techniques, rehabilitation equipment, and patient-centered care models.
