Commis Chef needed

  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and plating of dishes while maintaining high-quality standards and presentation consistency.
  • Follow instructions from senior chefs and ensure all kitchen tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Take responsibility for specific sections of the kitchen when assigned, ensuring smooth workflow and timely service.
  • Monitor stock levels and communicate shortages or needs to the Chef de Partie promptly.
  • Prepare and organize mise en place for designated sections, ensuring readiness for each service.
  • Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of food to maintain freshness and compliance with food safety standards.
  • Participate in cleaning duties, including deep cleaning schedules, to maintain a spotless kitchen environment.
  • Assist with menu development by contributing ideas for dishes or techniques and experimenting with recipes.
  • Monitor equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance requirements to the kitchen supervisor.
  • Learn and apply different cooking techniques, including grilling, roasting, sautéing, and baking, to meet menu needs.
  • Assist in preparing specialty dishes and catering orders for events or functions as required.
  • Adhere to portion control guidelines to minimize food waste and maintain profitability.
  • Actively participate in training sessions to improve skills and align with Cantine's culinary vision.
  • Ensure proper communication with other kitchen staff and front-of-house teams to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Support senior chefs during busy service periods, maintaining composure and focus under pressure.
