Cake Maker Assistant Job Description

The cake maker assistant supports the lead cake maker in all stages of preparing and decorating cakes and desserts, ensuring the quality of the final products and the efficient operation of the bakery or shop.

Main Responsibilities:

Ingredient Preparation:

Accurately measure and weigh ingredients (flour, sugar, eggs, butter, etc.) according to the specified recipes.

Prepare ingredients such as melting butter, beating eggs, and sifting flour.

Ensure all necessary ingredients are available before starting the baking process.

Baking Assistance:

Assist in mixing batters and mixes using hand or motorized mixers.

Pour batters into various baking pans.

Monitor the baking process in ovens and ensure that cakes are properly baked.

Remove cakes from the oven and allow them to cool properly.

Decorating Assistance:

Prepare various types of frostings and toppings (such as buttercream, ganache, etc.).

Assist in covering cakes with frosting or other toppings.

Assist with cake decoration using various decorating tools (icing bags, nozzles, spatulas).

Prepare and color sugar paste or marzipan paste (if required).

Clean and prepare fruits or other toppings for decoration.

Cleanliness and Maintenance:

Regularly clean and sanitize kitchen and bakery tools and equipment (mixing bowls, utensils, trays, mixers, ovens).

Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with food safety and health standards.

Properly dispose of waste.

Inventory Management:

Assist in receiving and storing ingredients and raw materials.

Report inventory shortages to the supervisor for replenishment.

Additional Duties:

May be required to assist with packaging finished products.

Assist in arranging and displaying products in the display case.

Provide general support to the bakery staff.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Previous experience in the bakery or pastry industry, or in a commercial kitchen environment (a plus).

Ability to learn quickly and acquire new skills.

Technical Skills:

Basic knowledge of kitchen and bakery tools and equipment.

Ability to accurately measure ingredients.

Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.

Personal Skills:

Attention to detail and accuracy in work.

Ability to work within a team and collaborate with others.

Ability to withstand work pressure and prolonged standing.

Punctuality and discipline at work.

Passion for cake and pastry making and a desire to learn and develop.

Good communication skills.

Work Environment:

The job requires prolonged standing.

Handling hot ovens and electrical equipment.

Exposure to varying temperatures (hot ovens, refrigerators).

May require lifting moderate loads.
