Position: Quantity Surveyor/Estimator

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join our team. As a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs and quantities involved in construction projects, analyzing project specifications, and providing cost management and procurement support throughout the project lifecycle. Your expertise in quantity surveying and estimation will contribute to the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare accurate and detailed estimates for construction projects, including material quantities, labor costs, equipment requirements, and project timelines.
  2. Conduct thorough analysis of project specifications, drawings, and related documents to identify key cost factors and potential risks.
  3. Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating purposes.
  4. Utilize industry-specific software and tools to perform takeoffs, cost calculations, and generate comprehensive estimates.
  5. Prepare and submit timely and competitive bids and proposals to clients, ensuring compliance with project requirements and contractual obligations.
  6. Monitor and track project costs throughout the construction phase, highlighting any deviations from the estimated budget and providing recommendations for cost control measures.
  7. Collaborate with procurement teams to obtain competitive pricing for materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  8. Review and negotiate contract terms and conditions with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring favorable terms for the company.
  9. Conduct value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality and functionality.
  10. Prepare and maintain accurate cost databases, historical cost data, and benchmarking information for future reference and continuous improvement.
  11. Provide support in dispute resolution and claims management processes, including the preparation of cost impact assessments and documentation.
  12. Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact project costs and estimating practices.
  13. Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement cost control strategies, change management processes, and risk mitigation measures.
  14. Ensure compliance with relevant measurement standards, codes of practice, and industry guidelines in quantity surveying and estimation activities.
  15. Foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, promoting a collaborative and professional work environment.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional certifications or memberships are a plus.
  2. Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator in the construction industry.
  3. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools for estimating, takeoff, and cost management.
  4. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret project specifications and drawings accurately.
  5. Excellent numerical and mathematical abilities, with a sound understanding of cost estimation methodologies and techniques.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  7. Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  8. Familiarity with relevant measurement standards, codes of practice, and industry regulations.
  9. Knowledge of procurement processes and contract management principles.
  10. Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  11. Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work.
