The Role

We are hiring a UX Designer for Infrastructure and Developer Experience to work with the engineering teams at Canonical, playing a vital role in improving developer experience globally.

Our design team aims to turn complex, open-source software into efficient, intuitive products that can transform how complex systems are built and expand open source capabilities for enterprise IT.

This role reports to one of the Infrastructure and Developer Experience design managers or the Director.

You will be based remotely in the EMEA region.

Responsibilities
  • Build tools that enable everyone to create their own cloud experiences (MAAS, LXD, MicroCloud, and Canonical k8s).
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to shape the future of developer experience.
  • Support complex products through design and UX heuristics.
  • Evolving and evangelizing design systems to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Understand the broader scope of your work and its interconnected constraints.
  • Support our working groups to enable Canonical design's horizontal efforts.
Requirements
  • An exceptional academic record from high school and university.
  • Bachelor's or equivalent in User Experience, Design, STEM, or a compelling alternative narrative.
  • Knowledge and passion for user experience, technology, and design.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and improvement—curious, flexible, scientific.
  • Result-oriented with a drive to complete work and celebrate success.
  • Confidence in user research practices.
  • Engagement with the latest design research and innovation.
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks for company events.
