Job description

The Centre for Regenerative Medicine at the Arabian Gulf University, Manama, Kingdom tof Bahrain, has two open post-doctoral fellow positions to develop Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T cells to treat refractory hematological malignancies.

The new advanced cGMP facility focuses on developing immunotherapeutic approaches with CAR T cells. CAR T cells targeting CD19 demonstrated their efficacy for the treatment of refractory B cell malignancies but remains curative for only a fraction of patients. The project will develop 4th and 5th generation CAR T cells and assess their efficacy in vitro and in vivo. We also aim to develop new gene engineering strategies, identify synergistic treatment strategies, and successfully extend CAR T therapy to a broader range of patients and diseases.

About the Regenerative Medicine Centre

The Regenerative Medicine Centre is a newly established cGMP grade and fully equipped with state of the art tools

Key Responsibilities include:
The Post-doctoral fellows will utilize multiple molecular, cellular, and imaging techniques to design a CAR targeting CD19 and express this CAR in human T cells with the eventual goal of adoptive transfer to patients.

Core competencies include molecular design and protein expression in mammalian cells, and those related to the expression analyses of primary tissues.

These persons will be working as part of a group of researchers focused on developing T cell therapies in a translational research environment.

Education, experience, and skills required for consideration:
Doctoral-level degree (Ph.D., MD, or similar) in immunology, immunotherapy, and/or Biotechnology.

Experience in molecular design and protein expression in mammalian cells, and expertise in gene expression analyses of primary tissues.

Demonstrated ability to prepare manuscripts and/or grant proposals, along with a publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
