The Assistant Chief of Operations will play a pivotal role in safeguarding life and property while effectively managing firefighting and rescue operations.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee fire protection services to ensure timely and proficient responses to emergencies, minimizing loss of life and damage to property.
- Manage structural, crash, and confined space rescue procedures, participating in departmental training programs to enhance firefighting and rescue skills.
- Evaluate the proficiency of firefighters in operating fire apparatus and related equipment, overseeing maintenance, cleaning, and testing of vehicles.
- Complete and submit NFIRS-compliant Fire Protection Response reports within specified timelines.
- Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications:
- One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education if a degree is required.
- Firefighter I and II, CPR AHA or Red Cross, Hazmat Awareness, Hazmat Operation, Hazmat Incident Commander, NREMT-Basic, Fire Officer III, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor II, NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 certification.
- Experience:
- At least 3-5 years of experience as a Senior Fire Officer.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and cognitive skills for effective emergency management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access) for daily reporting requirements.
Hazardous and stressful conditions; ability to work long hours, overtime, and live among fellow firefighters. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory in certain areas, including head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
Physical ActivitiesWork may involve lifting up to 50 lbs., stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, and working in areas with potential exposure to weather conditions.
