**Overview of the Role:**

The American University Of Bahrain is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Higher Education Retail Manager. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our campus bookstore.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Manage sales activities, ensuring exceptional customer service and meeting sales targets.
  • Implement promotional strategies to boost store revenue.
  • Maintain a well-organized and visually appealing store layout.
  • Update product displays regularly and ensure merchandise is well-stocked and properly categorized.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Manage ordering, receiving, and inventory control for books, apparel, branded items, and other merchandise.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and audits.
  • Optimize stock levels to meet customer demands without overstocking.
  • Analyze SKU performance to identify trends and student needs.
  • Adjust product offerings based on data to add, remove, or update items, ensuring the store remains relevant and meets seasonal demands.

**Leadership and Supervision:**

  • Lead and supervise bookstore staff (mainly work-study students), including selection, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Address customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback promptly and effectively.

**Additional Responsibilities:**

  • Assist in budgeting, financial reporting, and expense control.
  • Manage cash handling, including daily reconciliations and deposits.
  • Coordinate marketing efforts and promotional events in collaboration with the marketing department.
  • Evaluate compliance with university policies and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment.
  • Update and follow up on the point of sales linked to online shopping, follow up on online orders, and coordinate with delivery agents.

**Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, retail management, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certificates are preferred.
  • Experience in retail management or a similar role is desirable.
  • Experience in a bookstore or academic setting is a plus.

  • Basic knowledge of marketing and social media platforms.
  • Ability to analyze sales data and customer feedback to improve category management and meet customer expectations.
  • Comfortable working in a retail environment that may require standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move merchandise weighing up to 15 Kg.
