At Helmerich & Payne, our people are the backbone of our organization. As a HSE Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining a world-class safety culture within our business units.

About the Role

This position requires an individual who can effectively lead, support, and guide our teams as they strive to achieve continuous improvement. Your primary responsibility will be to establish methods that ensure alignment with company safety expectations.

You will work closely with all levels of leadership to create, maintain, and improve our safety environment. This includes assisting in the planning and implementation of safety policies and procedures that comply with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.

Your expertise will be sought by customers regarding HSE-related concerns, and you will coordinate and manage emergency response efforts in the event of injuries or environmental events. You will also serve as a subject matter expert and company representative for litigation purposes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide effective leadership, support, and guidance to the business units as they develop a world-class safety culture of continuous improvement.
  • Establish methods that ensure alignment with company safety expectations.
  • Partner closely with all levels of leadership to create, maintain, and improve the H&P safety environment.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Work with customers to address HSE-related concerns.
  • Coordinate and manage emergency response efforts in the event of injuries or environmental events.
  • Serve as SME and company representative for litigation.
  • Provide guidance and support to Human Resources in Worker's Compensation cases.
Requirements
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage, develop, coach, and mentor complex teams.
  • Promotes a culture of collaboration and teamwork across multiple business units and functions.
  • Experienced in deploying HSE initiatives.
  • Functional experience with Drilling Operations.
  • Proficient in LEAN and Continuous Improvement principles.
  • Successfully managed safety teams.
  • Demonstrated strategic perspective with ability to implement with results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel proficiency.
  • Project management, root cause analysis, problem-solving ability.
  • Innovative, enthusiastic about environment, health, and safety solutions that enhance safety performance, reduce costs, and strive sustainability.
