Special Education Support Assistant

Job Summary:

This position requires a dedicated and compassionate individual to work with students with physical disabilities. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and possess a strong ability to interact with students, staff, and parents in a positive manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist students with physical disabilities in their daily activities, including motor development and first aid assistance.
  • Work with students individually or in small groups to support their learning and development.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining attendance records, filing student evaluations, and scheduling make-up work.
  • Interact with school staff, students, and parents in a professional and respectful manner.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • One year of general experience, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transfer students as needed.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Educational Requirements:

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the education and/or experience requirements described above. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
