Software Engineering Leadership Opportunity

Job Description

We are seeking an accomplished Software Engineering Manager to lead our team in delivering exceptional software solutions. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading and managing a distributed team of engineers, ensuring seamless collaboration and high-quality results.

Your primary focus will be on talent development, setting expectations with stakeholders, and advocating for modern software development practices. You will participate in the engineering process through code and architectural review, engage with broader teams, and represent our organization at global events.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead a distributed team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation
  • Talent development through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career planning
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
  • Be an advocate for and advance modern software development practices
  • Participate in the engineering process through code and architectural review
  • Engage with broader teams at Canonical, the open source community, and partners
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • A strong academic track record from both high school and university
  • An undergraduate degree in a technical subject
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with experience in managing high-performance teams
  • Deep knowledge of Linux, with proficiency in Debian or Ubuntu
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities
  • A passion for technology, with evidence of personal projects and initiatives
