Role Summary:

This is a high-impact senior role that sits at the intersection of Engineering, Data, and Product. You will steer Penny's entire approach to Machine Learning and AI, identifying opportunities to deliver measurable customer value and building the scalable solutions to realize it. Your work will directly impact thousands of procurement professionals across the MENA region.

If successful, this role has the potential to develop into a Team Leadership position as we expand our dedicated AI/ML team. What You'll Do: Core ResponsibilitiesYou will be at the forefront of integrating AI and ML into procurement workflows, focusing on building intelligent solutions that solve real-world customer problems.

  1. AI/ML Development & Deployment

  2. Design and implement production-ready AI/ML models that enhance core procurement processes, from supplier matching to risk assessment.

  3. Develop solutions utilizing the latestLarge Language Model (LLM) and deep learning techniques to create tangible customer value.
  4. Architect and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems to provide accurate, contextual, and grounded responses to user queries.

  5. Create robust algorithms for advanced pattern recognition and process automation within complex procurement workflows.

  6. Technical Leadership & MLOps

  7. Ensure all AI solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable within our existing micro-service architecture.

  8. Conduct rigorous A/B testing and performance optimization, ensuring the model's performance meets business requirements.
  9. Provide technical guidance and mentorship on AI/ML best practices to other engineers at Penny.

  10. Own the solution life cycle from concept and data preparation through to final deployment and monitoring.

  11. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  12. Partner closely with Product teams to identify the highest-value opportunities for AI-driven improvements.

  13. Collaborate with Data teams to ensure high-quality training data, feature engineering, and labeling processes.
  14. Work with UX teams to translate complex models into intuitive, AI-powered user experiences.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML development, specifically deploying and managing models in production environments.
  • ML Proficiency: A strong track record and clear understanding of a range of ML techniques beyond simple prompting, including model fine-tuning and deployment.
  • Production Impact: Proven ability to solve complex business problems using AI/ML, demonstrating:
  • A clear understanding of problem-solution fit.
  • Rigorous evaluation of solution effectiveness.
  • Measurable business impact of your implementations.
  • Technical Foundation: Strong understanding of data processing, model evaluation techniques, and building high-performance, distributed systems.

Desired Qualifications (Pluses)

  • Experience setting up and managingMLOps best practices and tooling.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms(Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure) and their native AI services.
  • Experience withArabic language application of AI and ML.
  • Knowledge of procurement, supply chain, or enterprise SaaS software domain.
