Taxi Driver

Reports to: Transport Coordinator / Fleet Supervisor / Operations Manager
Position Overview:
The Cab Driver 1 is responsible for the safe, efficient, and courteous transport of passengers, goods, or executives to designated locations. This role demands punctuality, road discipline, customer service, and a thorough understanding of route navigation and traffic regulations within the clients operational area.

• Drive passengers safely to and from destinations as assigned by the client or dispatch office.

• Maintain knowledge of routes, traffic patterns, and road regulations to ensure efficient travel.

• Conduct daily vehicle inspections (pre-trip and post-trip), ensuring roadworthiness and cleanliness.

• Follow schedules and respond to dispatch instructions with flexibility and professionalism.

• Assist passengers with boarding, luggage, and personal items when necessary.

• Operate GPS, communication devices, and fare meters (if applicable) accurately and responsibly.

• Keep accurate trip logs, mileage, fuel records, and maintenance reports as required by the client.

• Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor at all times, especially when dealing with clients or passengers.

• Report any accidents, incidents, delays, or mechanical issues to the supervisor immediately.

• Adhere to local traffic laws and internal client transportation policies.

• Ensure that the cab is refueled, serviced, and maintained in a clean and operable condition.

• Comply with all health and safety requirements, including COVID-19 or infectious disease precautions when applicable.

• Assist in emergency transport or evacuation procedures when required.

• Support company or client events, VIP movements, and logistics as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certifications:

• KCSE certificate minimum.

• Valid Drivers License (Class BCE or equivalent).

• Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from DCI.

• PSV License or endorsement, where required.

• Defensive driving certification is an added advantage.

Experience:

• 23 years of professional driving experience, preferably in taxi, corporate transport, or hospitality.

• Experience with GPS navigation systems and familiarity with city/town routes and major landmarks.

Skills:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to remain calm, courteous, and professional under pressure.

• Basic mechanical knowledge to handle minor breakdowns or emergencies.

• Clean driving record and high personal integrity.

• Proficiency in English and Kiswahili; additional languages an asset for tourism or international clients.

Other Requirements:

• Neat personal appearance and appropriate dress code compliance.

• Willing to work flexible hours, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

• Able to pass random alcohol/drug screenings and health checks if required.

• Punctual, reliable, and able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive or VIP movements.
