About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced, visionary, and action-oriented Founding President (or equivalent senior leadership role) to lead the establishment of a new private higher education institution in Bahrain in collaboration with an international university partner. This is a rare opportunity to shape the institution from the ground up — from regulatory licensing to academic structuring and long-term strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory & Accreditation:
  • Lead and oversee the licensing and accreditation process with Bahrain's Higher Education Council (HEC)
  • Liaise with relevant ministries, regulatory bodies, and partner institutions
  • Institutional Structuring:
  • Design the university's governance framework, policies, and academic regulations
  • Establish internal administrative systems and quality assurance protocols
  • Recruitment & Team Building:
  • Lead the recruitment of academic, administrative, and support staff
  • Build a high-performing leadership team
  • Strategic & Operational Planning:
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term strategic plans
  • Oversee campus readiness, infrastructure, and service provider selection
  • Partnership Management:
  • Coordinate with international university partners to align academic programs, curriculum standards, and quality benchmarks
  • External Relations:
  • Represent the university with government entities, educational networks, and international bodies

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience in higher education (e.g. as President, Provost, Dean, or equivalent)
  • In-depth knowledge of higher education regulations in the GCC, preferably Bahrain
  • Strong experience in university establishment, accreditation, or institutional transformation
  • Master's or Doctorate in Education, Management, or a related field (PhD preferred)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and diplomatic skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, startup-like academic environment
