Job Title: Assistant Professor in Information and Communication Technology

Department: College of Business and Law

Reports to: Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology

Job Summary:

The British University of Bahrain (BUB) is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to contribute to its academic excellence through high-quality teaching, research, and leadership. This role involves delivering innovative and student-centered education while fostering knowledge creation and professional development. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the university's ICT programs and ensuring students graduate with strong academic achievements and employability prospects.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching & Learning

  • Develop and deliver high-quality teaching materials across multiple modules or short programs.
  • Design assessments, provide feedback, and support students' academic progression.
  • Supervise student research projects, dissertations, and fieldwork.
  • Identify areas for curriculum enhancement and contribute to course development.
  • Act as a personal tutor, offering academic and pastoral support.

Research & Scholarly Activity

  • Conduct high-quality research and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
  • Secure external research funding and engage in knowledge transfer initiatives.
  • Present findings at conferences and participate in academic collaboration.
  • Promote research-led teaching and integrate scholarship into curriculum design.

Leadership & Academic Engagement

  • Lead and manage module or program activities to enhance student learning.
  • Support and mentor junior colleagues in teaching and research development.
  • Engage in outreach activities to improve student recruitment and experience.
  • Collaborate with external organizations, industry stakeholders, and academic partners.

Qualifications & Experience:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

A PhD in Information and Communications Technology or a related field.

Extensive experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Higher Education.

Proven research capabilities with contributions to academic publications.

Strong mentoring, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Ability to secure external funding and lead research projects.

Expertise in contemporary ICT theories, policies, and practice.

Knowledge of higher education pedagogy and teaching methodologies.

Experience supervising postgraduate and doctoral-level research.

Commitment to academic excellence and student success.
