Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to complete accounting and financial duties of the Branch, including booking accounting transactions, validating supporting documents of accounting vouchers, reconciling accounts, and ensuring proper accounting controls are implemented.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Abide by the established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
  2. Review receipts issued and check all documents relating to payments including claims, workshops, hospitals, suppliers, providers, and refunds.
  3. Prepare the Payment Vouchers and the corresponding cheques.
  4. Prepare journal vouchers including expenses, special discounts, petty cash replenishment, and receivable deposits.
  5. Respond to queries received from the credit control team and the technical teams.
  6. Maintain an updated cheque register for undelivered cheques to third parties and workshops, and for motor experts' fees.
  7. Prepare journal entries related to the branches and agencies.
  8. Handle all the filing related to his/her job.
  9. Prepare reconciliations of accounts for clients, workshops & insurance companies, banks, and interbranch/intercompany accounts.
  10. Update and maintain the fixed assets register.
  11. Perform month-end closing of accounts procedures, including recording prepaid expenses, depreciation, accruals, and other closing entries.
  12. Prepare monthly deduction vouchers for employees' accounts.
  13. Maintain manual receipt books register and delivery information.
  14. Verify and control manual receipt books received from agents and collectors.
  15. Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports to concerned governmental bodies.
  16. Prepare confirmation letter requests for banks and suppliers on a periodic basis.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  2. 4 to 6 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the insurance industry.
  3. Ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision.
  4. Detail-oriented with errorless delivery.
