Data Center Operations Role

  1. We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Operator to oversee the day-to-day operations of our data center facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all systems, equipment and infrastructure are functioning optimally.
  2. You will be responsible for monitoring the data center's power and cooling systems, as well as security access control, compute, storage, network and telecommunications equipment and services.
  3. Your task will also involve carrying out preventative and planned/unplanned maintenance activities on data center resources, including replacing faulty hardware, expanding capacity and installing new equipment.
  4. Additionally, you will work closely with internal technical teams, vendors and partners to coordinate all aspects of data center operations, including server installation, decommissioning and capacity expansion.
  5. In this role, you will be required to manage the installation of pre-integrated racks, individual servers and network appliances, including stacking, wiring and cable management.
  6. Furthermore, you will need to ensure that all necessary operational arrangements are in place to maintain and recover the data center facilities and services in the event of a disaster or major unplanned outage, as per approved business continuity plans.
  7. You will work closely with approved service providers and maintain accurate data center configuration and operation documentation, updating timely and accurately relevant documentation and diagrams.
  8. This is a 24/7 role that requires you to be available for urgent support, especially during continuous operations that affect production.
  9. You will be expected to follow internal general data center guidelines.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or an equivalent field.
  • A minimum of three years of hands-on experience in data center operations.
  • A valid driver's license and a company car.
