A Chief Engineer is responsible for the effective management of engineering and maintenance operations within a hotel, ensuring safety, security, and compliance at the highest levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Engineering Team in day-to-day operations, including service standards, equipment schedules, and work schedules.
  • Coordinate with Housekeeping to prioritize maintenance activities for Guest rooms and public areas.
  • Develop systems to ensure health and safety protocols are met.
  • Communicate with Government agencies to ensure full compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Budget preparation for Engineering.
  • Daily checks around the hotel.
  • Lift emergency release procedures.
  • Maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment.
  • Building relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Safe conditions of hotel fixtures and fittings.
  • Emergency program development and direction.
  • Energy conservation programs.
  • Renovation project coordination.
  • Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Identification and implementation of environmentally-friendly systems.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • Advanced knowledge of building management/engineering.
  • A degree in Engineering or similar field.
  • Exposure to budgeting and basic accounting.
  • Positive attitude and strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently.
  • Previous experience in facilities management.
  • Proficient in computer programs and software.

Candidates demonstrating first aid qualifications and engineering field qualifications will be advantageous.
