As a Web Frontend Engineer at Canonical, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining our web applications using the latest technologies. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in various industries, and our customers include leading public cloud and silicon providers. We are a globally distributed team with 1100+ colleagues across 75+ countries, working remotely and meeting in person twice to four times a year.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate who can design and implement well-tested and documented software in Web technologies or Flutter. The successful candidate will participate in code and architectural reviews, collaborate with community and colleagues on technical specifications, contribute to technical documentation, seek improvements to engineering and operations practices, deploy and operate services developed by the team, and contribute to the success of their product through technical advocacy.

  • Design and implement well-tested and documented software in Web technologies or Flutter.
  • Debug and fix issues encountered by users.
  • Participate in engineering process through code and architectural reviews.
  • Collaborate with community and colleagues on technical specifications.
  • Contribute to technical documentation.
  • Seek improvements to engineering and operations practices.
  • Deploy and operate services developed by the team.
  • Contribute to the success of your product through technical advocacy.
What We Are Looking For

We are seeking an individual who embodies drive, organisation, and self-motivation. This role requires strong analytical skills and attention to detail, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • An outstanding academic track record from high school and university.
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about alternative path.
  • A proven track record of delivering results under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Professional written and spoken English.
  • Experience designing and writing high-quality Web technologies.
  • Experience with and passion for Typescript, React, or Flutter.
  • An eye for accessibility and performance.
