Steel Production Manager

The incumbent oversees and supervises Steel and Boiler works in the shop or on board ships to ensure timely completion, client satisfaction, and company commitments.
- Follow repair work lists or instructions from the department head.
- Conduct daily meetings with supervisors and ship coordinators to define job priority, check work progress, and provide technical advice.
- Inspect work locations in shop and on board to define methods of work, manpower requirements, and equipment use for timely delivery.
- Oversee schedule planning and monitoring as supplied by the department head for maintenance activities.
- Attend daily department meeting to keep the department head informed of work in progress.
- Contribute to company safety and disciplinary procedures and assist the department head in handling breaches.
- Assist in preparation and monitoring of budgets for labor, materials, and services.
- Control manpower, leave schedules, and overtime requirements of section personnel.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the superior.
- Leadership: High level of leadership qualities, managerial skills, problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
- Organizational: Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
- Planning: Project planning and manpower forecasting, defining, and developing schedules, activities, estimating resources and activity durations.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering / Naval Architecture/Ship Master or relevant education/experience.
- Minimum 8 years of proven experience in similar position or industry.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer systems and Microsoft Office products.
- Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and deal with sensitive information in a confidential manner.
