Infrastructure Professional

The Manager - Facilities role is a key position in our organization, responsible for overseeing and managing the infrastructure related to buildings and facilities that are critical for the operation of telecommunications equipment and services.

This role involves supervising employees, organizing, planning, and directing management programs. It requires excellent problem-solving skills, people and time management skills, as well as strong leadership abilities.

1. Facilities Management:

   The Manager - Facilities will be responsible for maintaining all physical facilities, including buildings, offices, data centers, and telecommunication shelters/enclosures. This will involve developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal functioning of all facilities and equipment.

   The role will also require coordinating with internal maintenance staff or external vendors to address any repair or maintenance issues promptly.

2. Health and Safety Compliance:

   The Manager - Facilities must develop and enforce health and safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for employees.

   Regular inspections of facilities will be conducted to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

   The role will also involve coordinating with relevant authorities and agencies to obtain necessary permits and licenses for facility operations.

3. Utilities Management:

   The Manager - Facilities will be responsible for monitoring and managing utility usage, including electricity, water, and telecommunications services.

   This will involve implementing conservation measures and sustainability initiatives to reduce the company's environmental footprint.

4. Emergency Preparedness and Response:

   The Manager - Facilities must develop and maintain emergency response plans to address potential crises such as natural disasters, power outages, or security breaches.

   Protocols for evacuations, communications, and business continuity will be established to minimize disruptions to operations.

5. Vendor Management:

   The Manager - Facilities will be responsible for identifying and evaluating vendors and service providers for facility-related services.

   Management contracts and service agreements will be managed to obtain the best value for the organization while maintaining high service standards.

   Vendor performance will be monitored and addressed promptly to ensure service quality and compliance with contractual obligations.

6. Budgeting and Cost Control:

   The Manager - Facilities will be responsible for developing and managing the building services unit budget.

   Expenditures will be monitored and opportunities identified to reduce costs without compromising quality or safety standards.

   Regular reports and financial analyses will be prepared to track budget performance and justify expenditures for senior management.

7. Team Management:

   The Manager - Facilities will supervise facilities staff, including maintenance technicians, and security personnel.

   Leadership and guidance will be provided to the team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

   Performance evaluations and feedback will be given to employees to support their professional development and growth in the organization.

Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you should possess a bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Structural, or a relevant field.

A minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant field is required.

Professional qualifications such as PMP and Facility Management are an asset.

Excellent problem-solving, people and time management skills are essential.
