Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer Lead to support our Bahrain business in their regulatory licensing applications with the Central Bank of Bahrain. As a key member of our compliance team, you will be responsible for managing our daily compliance program, including preparing and submitting regulatory reports, maintaining program documentation tracking, and providing recommendations for program improvements.

You will also support our Regional Head of Compliance in other Middle East markets, working closely with internal stakeholders such as Legal, Compliance, IT Security, and Product, as well as external stakeholders like external Counsel.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring quality and accurate responses to regulators regarding licensing, registration, and ongoing operational reporting.
  • Collaborating with different functions to ensure compliance with the Central Bank of Bahrain's regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting with the periodic review of policies and training.
  • Managing internal compliance operational controls, independent reviews, and regulatory enquiry responses.
  • Identifying, highlighting, and managing regulatory risks, findings, and recommendations identified through independent reviews or examinations.
  • Working with Management and staff to implement and maintain suitable systems and controls to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Responding to law enforcement requests and inquiries.
  • Managing key compliance projects to ensure timely execution and compliance with local regulatory requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in complex retail/consumer financial services/payment services organisations, or a regulatory agency or law firm involving compliance issues related to anti-money laundering and related payments services laws and regulations.
  • Excellent knowledge of anti-money laundering regulations, the Central Bank of Bahrain's Rulebook, and associated E-money Regulations within the banking/financial services industry.
  • The ability to distil and discern important information from regulatory guidance, statutes, and regulations, audit findings, and other documents, and determine how it impacts the business.
  • The ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task and balance pressure and deadlines with constantly changing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • Experience interacting with local regulators is a plus.
  • CAMS certification, or willingness to obtain, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of digital assets and fintech products is preferred.
