Job Description

New Product Development (NPD) Chef

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced New Product Development (NPD) Chef to join our team at Calo Inc. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.

The NPD Chef will be responsible for managing new product development projects, researching consumer markets, and developing new product concepts and prototypes. This includes analyzing and evaluating trial results, making necessary adjustments to ingredients, formulations, processes, and equipment prior to full-scale production.

In this role, you will work closely with the R&D team to formulate and test new recipes, improve existing recipes, and establish and maintain effective employee relations. Additionally, you will ensure that all equipment within the R&D space is correctly handled and maintained.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage new product development projects by researching consumer markets and developing new product concepts and prototypes.
  • Benchmark and analyze competitors' products and market trends.
  • Develop and implement strategies for product innovation and improvement.
  • Create and manage sample creations when requested.
  • Evaluate and refine recipes based on customer feedback and sales data.
  • Maintain accurate records of product development, including recipes, ingredients, and testing results.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a CDP or sous chef.
  • Ability to initiate, plan, and implement new product development projects.
  • Experience following recipes and formulations to create and evaluate product samples.
  • Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and procedures.
  • Ability to create and maintain an efficient, hygienic, and positive working environment.
  • Strong time-management skills, able to finish tasks in a timely manner, and stick to deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of food cost control principles.
  • Experience with menu planning and pricing.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
