We are seeking an experienced Relationship Banking Expert who can help us grow our Wholesale Banking Department in the UAE.

Job Description

As a Relationship Banking Expert, you will be responsible for supporting the growth of our UAE Local Corporate Unit by identifying new business opportunities, building strong relationships with senior decision-makers, and providing tailored solutions to meet their needs. Your primary goal will be to deliver sustainable revenue growth while effectively managing operating expenses and ensuring the overall profitability of the Bank.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Source new accounts and onboard mid-to-large corporates in targeted sectors, aligning with UAE Risk Acceptance Criteria;
  2. Independently deal with all stakeholders, presenting proposals to internal senior management committees;
  3. Grow and retain an assigned portfolio of UAE Local Corporate clients;
  4. Contribute towards achieving the Unit's overall targets;
  5. Collaborate with Wholesale Banking product lines and Coverage teams to achieve relationship financial targets within acceptable risk parameters;
  6. Develop, enhance, and maintain relationships with existing and new UAE Local Corporates;
  7. Prepare relationship account plans for assigned UAE Local Corporates and prospects;
  8. Implement structured calling programs to give effect to these plans;
  9. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry and economic indicators;
  10. Monitor UAE assigned Corporate account activity and early warning indicators;
  11. Ensure high-quality and timely service to clients;
  12. Verify and inspect pledged inventory, mortgages, other collateral periodically;
  13. Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with WB Middle Office;
  14. Ensure adherence to guidelines and rectification of discrepancies;
  15. Maintain contact with competitor bank counterparts;
  16. Represent Corporate Coverage on relevant internal senior management committees;
  17. Coordinate with Group Coverage heads and drive business integration;
  18. In collaboration with Unit Managers, implement the UAE strategy for Corporate Coverage;
  19. Regularly recommend refinements to the UAE Corporate Coverage strategy;
  20. Provide representation of UAE Corporate Coverage to regulators and manage regulatory position.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed as a Relationship Banking Expert, you must possess:

  • A minimum of 12 years' professional experience, with 10 years in corporate and/or investment banking or related areas;
  • A degree in business administration, economics, or equivalent;
  • In-depth knowledge, understanding, and track record of delivering 'client to bank' in the UAE LC client segment;
  • Excellent demonstrable relationships with senior managers/decision-makers;
  • Multinational experience would be advantageous but local UAE experience is a must;
  • A strong understanding of the overall UAE market and solid knowledge of the GCC region;
  • Well-experienced in the WB banking product landscape, including working capital and receivables financing, global trade finance, Islamic finance structuring, and capital markets.
