Business Development Manager Job Overview

This is a dynamic and challenging role, requiring exceptional business development skills, insurance knowledge, and customer service expertise.

The successful candidate will be responsible for acquiring new clients through cold calls and follow-up leads, ascertaining client requirements, collecting proposals, and arranging quotations from insurance companies.

They will also be expected to submit and present quotations to clients, obtain acceptance, arrange immediate confirmation, and follow up to obtain policy documents from insurance companies.

Additionally, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for collections, ensuring no default occurs, and assisting clients with their claims if required.

Other key responsibilities include maintaining relationships with existing clients, participating in team and company activities, and completing any other tasks or functions assigned by management.

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed business targets;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to drive growth and retention;
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments to provide expert advice to clients;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless customer experiences;
  • Contribute to the development of business plans and budgets;
  • Participate in training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge;
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field;
  • Minimum 3-10 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field;
  • Proven track record of success in acquiring new clients and driving revenue growth;
  • Strong technical skills in insurance products, including underwriting and risk management;
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM software;
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach to market research and client engagement;
  • Problem-solving abilities and adaptability in a fast-paced environment;
  • Professional qualifications in Sales or Marketing are a plus.
