Job Purpose
The primary focus of this role is on underwriting commercial property and casualty motor-marine products, including but not limited to Motor, Marine Cargo, and Marine Hull. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and executing underwriting operations and policy production in line with company guidelines, with a key focus on client retention and maintaining targeted profitability levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Owning the renewal process for allocated accounts to achieve targets on renewal retention, in conjunction with Underwriting Managers.
- Issuing policies up to a pre-defined limit, referring anything above to the manager for advice or approval.
- Underwriting - rating, accepting, and arranging to issue policies and renewals within delegated authorities.
- Preparing quotations and offering underwriting terms on both new business and renewals to brokers and customers against business enquiries within delegated underwriting authority as per RO guidelines and within agreed time frames.
Operational & Technical Responsibilities
- Coordinating and executing timely production of commercial policies and ensuring accuracy of documents in line with customer/broker agreements.
- Ensuring all policy and related documents are dispatched/delivered to customers/brokers within the shortest possible time and maintaining a record.
- Identifying and referring all risks outside personal authority limit to the relevant manager.
- Providing technical guidance and support where necessary.
Essential Requirements
- Sound knowledge and experience in the insurance industry, particularly commercial P&C with a primary focus on commercial property and casualty motor-marine products.
- Technical sales experience and communication skills.
